Scrum Master Job Summary:
  • You will be accountable for guiding, coaching, training in scrum methodologies and assisting the team in Scrum / Agile principles and driving process improvement.
  • You will work with the team to deliver value and coordinates within and outside of the team to facilitate the completion of the team’s backlog and guiding the team to adding stories to its backlog as appropriate.
  • You will proactively identify impediments and appropriately resolve using network of peers (Scrum of Scrums) and formal channels (including escalation if required)
  • You will drive/manage/oversee all aspects of multiple simultaneous fast-paced assigned projects with distributed teams
  • You will coordinate the release plan, communication plan, risks and issues management plan, (these are PO duties)
  • You will assist Product Owner in managing scope of team(s) and facilitating changes.
  • Facilitates team’s Agile Scrum ceremonies (Release Planning, Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review/Demo, Sprint Retrospective
  • Ensures (using SCRUM and AGILE) appropriate, complete and timely team achievement of all documentation, tracking and reporting metrics (including: user stories, project progress, resource utilization, change requests, issues, risks, risk mitigation plans, test scripts, test results) and ensure delivery timelines. 

Scrum Master Job Responsibilities:

  • Writing, coordinating, and distributing communications internally, and potentially externally
  • Developing strong relationships with team leaders to ensure programs and communications remain aligned with business priorities and outcomes; relationship building and maintenance is key to this position
  • Making things happen by facilitating or helping to facilitate the timely completion of high quality deliverables; hold self and others in staff accountable for outstanding results
  • Track and report on key group metrics, where applicable. Set up clear and concise reporting methodologies to be shared on a regular basis
  • Follow best practices to successfully drive strategic initiatives through the program lifecycle
  • Coordinate administrative, financial, and operational activities as directed
  • Act, at times, as Point of Contact between leadership and employees (or other stakeholders), provide oversight and guidance to projects of high importance, perform a wide variety of tasks. The ability to be creative and working within the gray area without direction is expected. Be confident
  • Understand, and be involved in all aspects of the organization, expect to be a sounding board for management and employees
  • Act as an advisor, assist in facilitating effective decision making, coordinate the execution of strategic initiatives, ensure staff issues are addressed properly, efficiently, and judiciously
  • Expect to make or facilitate decisions largely out of the spotlight, you are required to enable team players to do great things.
Scrum Master Job Requirements:
  • Solid understanding of software development life cycle models as well as expert knowledge of SCRUM and Agile with knowledge of traditional project management principles and practices and the ability to blend them together in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment
  • A proven track record of successful Agile product delivery or lean product development
  • Prior experience with SCRUM/Agile methodologies with enterprise-level application development projects. PMI-ACP, CSM, or equivalent preferred
  • Experience overseeing multi-function product teams with at least 6-9 team members including Product Managers, Developers, Analysts, and QA Personnel
  • Balanced business/technical background:
  • Sufficient level of technical background to provide highly-credible leadership to development teams and to be able to accurately and objectively evaluate complex project risks and issues
  • 3-5 Years of Experience
  • BA or BS or equivalent experience is required; MA or MS is a plus
  • Solid understanding of and demonstrated experience administering JIRA across multiple SCRUM teams
  • Strong interpersonal skills including mentoring, coaching, collaborating, and team building
  • Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills with an ability to manage competing demands
  • Proven ability to lead software development projects and ensure objectives, goals, and commitments are met
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills and experience interacting with both business and IT individuals at all levels including the executive level
  • Creative approach to problem-solving with the ability to focus on details while maintaining the “big picture” view
