Senior SCCM Engineer Job Summary:
Minimum 7 years of experience working within an IT organization, enterprise level experience is required. Firm understanding of IT terms and concepts with ability to read vendor documentation and perform related duties accurately. Detailed experience with SCCM in an administration, operations and support role. Candidate will be self-motivated, willing to learn, capable of following directions and creatively working through challenges. Candidate will be expected to mentor others and provide skills transfer sessions. Candidate will be expected to create documentation, scripts and setup automated tasks using a variety of methods. This position will be on the Data Center Support & Operations team performing various systems administrative, operational and support duties as assigned. Utilizing your specialized depth and breadth of expertise in discipline or function you will be recognized as a subject matter expert. 

Senior SCCM Engineer Job Responsibilities:
The System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) Administrator shall provide SCCM Administration Services for the support of network enterprises, forests, and domains under responsibility. The SCCM Administrator shall provide the following tasks that include, but are not limited to roles and responsibilities listed below:

  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and problem resolution, to include but not limited to, issues with site-to-site communication, package distribution, SCCM advanced client and operating system deployment (OSD).
  • Create complex and dynamic collections, advertisements, queries, reports, other technical documents as required and manage local and remote site boundaries, site systems, site roles, inter-site dependencies and communication.
  • Generate query-based collections and SCCM reports using SQL and WQL.
  • Modify the Server Management System (SMS_DEF.MOF) to collect information from the registry and Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) repository.
  • Monitor all SCCM primary sites and all SCCM clients in order to maintain high service availability.
  • Create architectural diagrams, project plans and presentations.
  • Assess existing infrastructure to provide recommendations, and research and integrate new technologies that shall improve the overall quality of service while reducing total cost of ownership.
  • Develop implementation strategies and deployment schedules and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Validate deployment plans for compliance with existing performance limitations of the enterprise server's software.
  • Provide engineering details in a customer modifiable Visio format as requested.
  • Document enterprise configuration management and preventative maintenance as required
  • Provide patch management support for enterprise servers.
  • Manage ServiceNow trouble ticket queues and perform trend and root-cause analysis to resolve systematic issues and groups of trouble tickets. Efforts shall be documented in the trouble ticket system.
  • Create, implement, and deploy images for enterprise workstations.
  • Develop and document processes to deploy Zero Touch Installation (ZTI) images for an Enterprise environment utilizing SMS and SCCM Operating System Deployment (OSD) as required.
  • Maintain and update current OSD images and documentation on a 4-12 week cycle utilizing approved change processes.
  • Create custom OSD Task Sequences utilizing Microsoft scripting technologies and components such as Shell, VBScript, WMI, .NET and XML for captured images.
  • Provide Tier 3 technical support for remote SMS Administrators in order to provide in depth troubleshooting for OSD related deployment issues.
  • Communicate with the CAB per protocol, and participate in the change management process as necessary.
  • Build, configure, and troubleshoot Windows Services Update Server (WSUS).
  • Resolve escalated technical support incidents from the Service Desk.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Senior SCCM Engineer Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science – Computer Sciences or Information Systems preferred.
  • 4+ years’ experience in SCCM administration required
  • Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) certification or Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert/Associate (MCSE/A) certification
  • Analytical skills to define and solve problems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to interact with IT stakeholders and senior leadership.
