Senior Engineering Manager Job Summary:

Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Engineering Manager to lead a team of Electronics, Firmware and Mechanical engineers to deliver innovative products and solutions using Solid-State refrigeration technology. The Senior Engineering Manager will be responsible for successfully delivering projects on-time, on-budget, within scope as defined by the engineering leadership and respective business units. This leadership role is critical to ensuring successful strategic growth within the company.  

Senior Engineering Manager Job Duties:

  • Lead, plan and direct all activities of the Hardware Engineering department: Electronics, Mechanical, and Firmware designs.
  • Recruit and develop the department staff in support of the company's career management process.
  • Establish performance metrics, monitor and communicate results.
  • Create and deploy policies and processes for the department in support of a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Create and/or review all designs prior to their implementation.
  • In partnership with Program Management, create and maintain schedules, resource allocation, and budgets for all projects.
  • Create and maintain the department expense budget for staffing needs (internal and external), training, equipment, etc.
  • Fulfill the department deliverables to maintain ISO certifications.
  • Facilitate effective decision making and issue resolution.
  • Drive corrective action as necessary to keep projects on track and escalate as needed.
  • Provide effective leadership and communication.

Senior Engineering Manager Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Mechanical Engineering or related technical degree and a minimum of 7 years’ experience leading electro-mechanical industrial product designs. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • 5+ years people-leading experience of internal and external resources.
  • Demonstrated experience in electronics/firmware/mechanical design and development of commercially successful products.
  • Verifiable experience in embedded software development life cycle, and Agile methodologies. Familiarity with IoT and Cloud connectivity is a plus.
  • Computer skills using MS Office, Altium, OrCAD, SolidWorks, or similar design packages. (Design software)
  • Strong understanding of engineering, project management, and new product development principles and toll-gate processes.
  • Demonstrated experience in Lean Process Improvement, and Visual Management.
